The Global Big Day Bird Count With Chirp
What is the Global Big Day?
Global Big Day is a 24 hour long worldwide bird count dedicated to submitting bird sightings to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s free online eBird site, eBird. Powered by citizen science, eBird helps scientists collect data for research, conservation efforts, and global bird population tracking with animated abundance maps. During the 2020 Global Big Day, a world record was set when more than 2.1 million birds were sighted and 120,000 checklists were submitted! On May 8th, 2021, you can participate in the Global Big Day bird count, and collect crucial data about the Big Bear Valley wild bird populations. And maybe even break the local record of spotting 130 bird species in a single day!
